PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAMME

The general philosophy of the programme is to produce graduates of high academic standing with adequate practical exposure in ALL aspect of Anatomical sciences who can function adequately in the medical education process, complement ancillary laboratory medical services to the greater society and develop entrepreneurial expertise in related disciplines.


Programme Objectives

The programme will be sufficiently broad-based to lead to the production of graduates who will be able to perform the following functions:

  1. Assist in teaching Anatomy courses to B.Sc. Anatomy, Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences students and those of other related disciplines.
  2. Acquire competence in the use of basic laboratory equipment.
  3. Demonstrate with an acceptable degree of manual dexterity, on the normal living subject, the position, extent and functional integrity of organ and systems.
  4. Identify the position extent of normal structures in radiographs, contrast studies, air studies, angiograms and osteology materials.
  5. Promote anatomy as a subject through research that will lead to the acquisition of higher qualifications such as M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR OF ANATOMY

Application Form – ₦20,000
Acceptance Fee – ₦50,000
ALL PAYMENTS TO THE UNIVERSITY SHOULD BE MADE THROUGH BANK DRAFT IN FAVOUR OF CRESCENT UNIVERSITY, ABEOKUTA.

DURATION OF COURSE

4 years for Joint Admissions Matriculation Examinations entry candidates.

Candidates should obtain JAMB forms as well as Crescent University application form before they can qualify for the screening exercise.

 a) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

The entry requirements shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects consisting of English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition, an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is required for admission into 100 Level. Expected duration for UTME candidates shall be 4 years.

b) Direct Entry:

  • NCE, ND and approved equivalents of at least upper credit in relevant fields, or
  • Two A/L passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology at the Higher School Certificates or Advanced Level of General Certificate Examination or its equivalent;
  • IJMB or JUPEB at acceptable grade levels, or
  • An acceptable First Degree in relevant Biological or Physical Sciences Discipline.
  • HND with lower credit from recognized institutions may be admitted into 200 level in the relevant degree programmes provided they satisfy the minimum requirements stipulated for entry into 100 level.
  • Pass interview conducted by the University.

FACILITIES

We have hugely invested in our laboratory equipment for practical training of our students.We will continue to improve and update our facilities as required by the regulatory bodies.
